Ingredients:
- 4 cube steaks
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup water
- Vegetable oil for frying
For the gravy: - 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
- In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
- In another dish, whisk together buttermilk, eggs, and water.
- Dredge each cube steak in the flour mixture, then dip in the buttermilk mixture, and finally coat again in the flour mixture.
- Heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Fry the steaks in the hot oil until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- For the gravy, drain all but 1/4 cup of oil from the skillet and whisk in flour. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in milk, cooking until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper.
- Serve the chicken fried steaks topped with the creamy gravy.
